Slow-cooked Gammon Ham in Coke

I have tried to cook Pork belly and chicken wings in coke before and it turned out really well, so I apply it on Gammon Ham this time.

I usually find Gammon Ham is a little bit too salty for me so I imaged cook it in coke and honey can balance the taste with a sweet and lovely flavor and coke can makes the meats very tender!

Ingredients :

Gammon Ham 2.5lbs

Onion 1

Coke ( about 2L )

star anise 2pcs

Mustard ( any kind ) 2 Tbs

Brown sugar 2Tbs

Honey 4 Tbs

Ground Cinnamon 1 teaspoon

sqeezy ginger paste 1/2 Tbs

.with full instruction please refer to the youtube video as below

Instruction :

Place the ham in a large pot with cold water, bring to boil for 5 mins to get rid of the salt on the meat

drain the meat, place onion and star anise in a slow cooker, place the ham on top and fill the pot with coke until the meat is covered

put the lid on and put it into a preheated oven, set 180F and cook for 2 hours. After 2 hours, remove the ham from the pot, leave the ham to cool for a while on a plate and then score the meat in a check pattern

to make the glaze, mix together all the other ingredients, stir well until its all combined, then brush the glaze over, turning to completely coat the meat.

bake for another 20mins, serve it with the glaze or gravy!
