Stewed Pork Ribs with Apple 蘋果炆排骨

For me, winter is the best season to have stewed food which makes you warm and satisfied, well, another reason that I like to cook stewed food is because its simple, you don't have to work on it much, basically you just throw everything into a crock-pot, that's it!

My family & I are not big fans of eating savoury food with fruit, but sometimes it enhances the dish quite nicely. I was wandering in the wet market today and thinking what should i cook for dinner, and then I saw some very cute apples. I've cooked pork with apple cider before but never with actual apple, so that gave me the idea for this recipe.

All the ingredients you need are below, if you are not a bone person, you could use pork chop/ tenderloin or any other part that you like to replace the pork ribs.

Ingredients :

Pork Ribs.... 2LBS

Onion .... One , chopped into small pieces

Apple ... 2pcs

Pork Stock .... 800ml

Ginger .... 4slices

Salt..... 1.5 teaspoons

Brown sugar ... 2 Tbs

English Mustard ......1.5Tbs

Oliver Oil... 2Tbs

Dried Fine Herbs ... 1Tbs

Italian Mixed Herbs .... 1Tbs

Bay Leaves .... 3pcs

Cinnamon .... 1 small piece

Directions :

1. Place the pork into a pot, add ginger, 1teaspoon of salt and cold water over high heat until its boiling. Pour the water, rinse the pork with cold water to get rid of the blood

2. Coat the crock-pot with olive oil and add the pork ribs over medium high heat until it gets a little bit brown

3. Meanwhile, chop apples & onion into big pieces, place apple into salted water to keep the color

4. once the pork ribs are brown, add onion and stir it, then add all the remaining seasonings

5. add pork stock and bay leaves over high heats until it’s boiling, put the lid on and turn to low heat for the 1 hour or until you are satisfied with the tenderness of the meat

6. After 1 hour, the Apple should melted into the stew as showing in the picture

7. Have it with mashed potato or rice but we enjoyed it with the former
